Earth Care

We are all citizens of planet Earth. Citizenship carries both rights and responsibilities.

We believe space education offers students and teachers real opportunities to talk about what it means to be good caretakers, of our home planet, and eventually, of the worlds beyond it. These are themes we work to weave into our lessons and units with students, and into our workshops with teachers.

Language matters. Instead of talking about "colonizing" the Moon or Mars, we can talk about international cooperation, about using limited resources wisely, and about working toward goals that benefit all of humanity. We should understand the historic harms colonization has caused, to people and to the planet, and aspire to avoid repeating them. As we build a future in space, we hope to do it collaboratively, with international partners, creating and inhabiting off-world outposts that reflect shared values rather than old patterns of conquest.

The resources below touch on Earth care, stewardship of our biosphere, and what it might mean to carry those same values forward, as explorers, and eventually, as off-planet citizens ourselves.
